Brazil Chapter

Society of Physician Entrepreneurs (SoPE) Salvador Chapter is a biomedical and healthcare collaborative innovation network functioning as a chapter of SoPE, a non-profit global network.

The main goal is to help, encourage, educate, and connect Brazilian biomedical and healthcare entrepreneurs, focusing on Salvador. The Salvador Chapter will also invite entrepreneurs from all over Brazil to join and help them prepare other regional chapters within a year. Our chapter believes that students and the academic community shall play an important role and we welcome their ideas, inventions and innovations for improving healthcare to life.

Membership is open to medical professionals and other stakeholders in healthcare. Members include doctors, nurses, dentists, healthcare entrepreneurs, investors, engineers, IT professionals, industry representatives and service providers, college teachers and students.

Marco Delazzo obtained his medical degree at the University of Pavia, Italy, and his specialty degree in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at San Matteo Hospital in Pavia and San Paolo Hospital in Milan. In Brazil, he is Director and Co-founder of Clinica Baiana de Controle da Dor, a Pain Service provider for hospitals and clinics in Salvador and region. In Salvador, he is Head of the Anesthesiology Department at Hospital Geral Ernesto Simões Filho. Pain, Regional Anesthesia and Difficult Airway management are his areas of expertise, and since his early years at medical school he showed a deep interest in Ultrasound applications both in Anesthesia and Intensive Care. In 2013 he worked for the Buckinghamshire Heatlhcare Trust, UK, as anesthesiologist and intensivist, dividing his activities between High Wycombe Hospital and Stoke-Mandeville Hospital, the latter the UK reference center for patients with Spine Injury.
