The SoPE Foundation Crowdfunding Campaign Seeks $250k for Educational Programs

The Society of Physician Entrepreneurs announces its charitable foundation’s first-ever crowdfunding campaign—Getting Ideas to Patients—to raise $250,000 by the end of 2014 for educational programs and events. SoPE is the only known organization founded and led by physicians with the specific purpose of providing support to those physicians and other medical professionals on the front lines of delivering healthcare who need help in realizing their ideas, inventions and innovations for improving healthcare. The SoPE Foundation is the sole funder for these activities, such as the Blakely Visiting Lectureship Series named posthumously for one of our co-founders, and support for biomedical and health innovators applying for the Innovation Scholars Program.

“SoPE operates on a low-cost membership model to encourage enrollment,” explains Arlen Meyers, MD, chief executive officer. “Our members, who are interested in or already seeking an entrepreneurial path, join SoPE for access to established medical experts and mentors and educational programs. To help them reach their goals, our organization needs funding to deliver opportunities for experiential learning and the globally important national and international events important to their work.”
