New York Tristate Chapter

We use the term “Physician” loosely to include all who are in the healthcare world and have an idea or desire to improve healthcare or make a contribution. This would include physicians, dentists, chiropractors, nurses, physician assistants, biomedical engineers, academic biomedical researchers, employees of biomedical companies, etc. Members include healthcare entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, and industry representatives. The mission of SoPE is to help biomedical and healthcare entrepreneurs get their ideas, discoveries and inventions to market by providing them with education, connections to service providers & investors.

We try to hold meetings every 2 months during the academic year from 6:30 -9:30pm in mid-town Manhattan. Meetings typically have three scheduled features: (1) networking; (2) subject presentation (lecture or panel discussion) on business issues (e.g., finance, FDA, IP, marketing, etc.); and (3) a Company presentation by a member.

We insist that at the meeting there be no solicitation of investments or business and dress code is business appropriate as one may see at a big law firm or financial services company. Individuals may attend one meeting free as a guest of ours, after which you will be expected to join SOPE. SOPE membership entitles you to attend our chapter meetings for free. Potential business sponsors will be charged $100 to attend the first meeting and will have that amount deducted from sponsorship costs.
