Society of Physician Entrepreneurs (SoPE) Orange County and San Diego Chapter is a healthcare innovation initiative in collaboration with CHOC Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute (MI3). Its goal is to improve healthcare by fostering an ecosystem to support local physicians and healthcare innovators looking to commercialize their ideas.
SoPE’s Chapter helps local innovators with the information, resources, connections, and practical knowledge they need to bring their ideas to market.
Dr. Anthony Chang, MD, MBA, MPH, MS

SoPE’s Orange County and San Diego Chapter is led by Dr. Anthony Chang, MD, MBA, MPH, MS.
Dr. Chang is a world-renowned pediatric cardiologist who serves as a Chief Intelligence & Innovation Officer at CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange County. He is a founder of the international Society for Pediatric Innovation (iSPI), and chair of the annual Pediatrics 2040: Trends and Innovations for the Next 25 Years conference.
He lectures widely on big data and artificial intelligence in medicine and promotes the use of AI as the next frontier in medicine.
Dr. Chang is a president and CEO of CardioGenomic Intelligence (CGI), that focuses on artificial intelligence applications such as deep learning in clinical cardiology and genomic medicine. He is known for several innovations in pediatric cardiac care, including introducing the cardiac drug milrinone and co-designing (with Dr. Michael DeBakey) an axial-type ventricular assist device in children. He has helped to build a successful cardiology practice as a company and was able to complete a deal on Wall Street.
He combines his knowledge and passion for innovation with his desire to transform healthcare and inspire current and future physicians to push the frontiers of what is possible.
